Berger & Montague has repeatedly received published judicial praise for its expertise in developing, litigating and settling extremely large class actions and other complex litigation, including commercial litigation.

Berger & Montague Attorneys are Top-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell

Numerous Berger & Montague attorneys have received Martindale-Hubbell's "AV" Peer Reviewed rating. The "AV" rating is the highest possible Martindale-Hubbell rating and is "a testament to the fact that a lawyer's peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence," according to Lexis-Nexis Martindale-Hubbell. This distinction is awarded to less than five percent of all United States lawyers. Martindale-Hubbell's Peer Review Ratings are not sold. An attorney awarded the "AV" rating has earned that distinction based on the anonymous opinions of attorneys and judges who have witnessed the ethics and legal abilities of the rated lawyer.

The National Law Journal Names Berger & Montague to its "Hot List" of the Top Plaintiffs' Law Firms in the United States

Berger & Montague won this award in 2004, 2005, 2007-2013, and 2015. The National Law Journal has called Berger & Montague a "case in point" as a "canny, assertive and effective plaintiffs' firm" (2007); described our firm as having "a prominent hand in some of the country's biggest cases" (2005); noted that we have provided "39 years of successful practice, primarily in complex plaintiffs' litigation in securities, antitrust, consumer fraud, environmental and employment law" (2009); and as having "secured awards and settlements worth billions of dollars for clients in the areas of antitrust, securities, mass torts and civil and human rights" (2004). In 2008 and 2015, The National Law Journal highlighted the work of Berger & Montague shareholder, Sherrie R. Savett.

Chambers and Partners Names Berger & Montague as a Leading Antitrust Law Firm

For eight consecutive years, Chambers and Partners' USA America's Leading Lawyers for Business has selected our firm as one of Pennsylvania's very best.  Chambers and Partners most recently observed that Berger & Montague's antitrust group is "very sophisticated and well versed in the law." Chambers and Partners has previously noted that the firm "fields a high-quality and extremely well-respected antitrust group ... [that] has an excellent reputation for bringing class actions," citing sources who said that "[t]his team is conscientious and zealous in its representation of clients and is top of the field among the plaintiffs' Bar."

In 2015, Chambers and Partners again ranked Berger & Montague Band 2 for Antitrust in Pennsylvania and named four attorneys in our Antitrust Department as among the most highly regarded, including H. Laddie Montague, Jr. ("universally recognized as a dean of the antitrust Bar"), Eric L. The Legal 500 Names Berger & Montague as a "Top Tier Firm"

The United States edition of The Legal 500, an international legal referral guide, has recommended Berger & Montague, P.C. as a "Top Tier Firm" for Litigation: Mass Tort and Class Action: Plaintiff Representation -- Antitrust. "According to clients, Berger & Montague, P.C. is 'outstanding' and 'the best of the many players in this area of practice.' The firm has a sterling reputation in complex and class action litigation in a number of practice areas, particularly antitrust." The Legal 500 has also cited Berger & Montague as "stand[ing] out by virtue of its first-class trial skills," naming firm attorneys as "Top Antitrust Litigator." In making its 2011 award, The Legal 500 singled out three firm shareholders: H. Laddie Montague, Eric Cramer and David F. Sorensen.

The Public Justice Foundation Twice Named Berger & Montague as "Trial Lawyer of the Year"

In 2009, the prestigious Public Justice Foundation "Trial Lawyer of the Year Award" went to Berger & Montague for its work on the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Plant Litigation based on its "long and hard-fought" victory against "formidable corporate and government defendants." The 2009 award represented the second time that Berger & Montague won the "Trial Lawyer of the Year Award" from The Public Justice Foundation. Berger & Montague's first "Trial Lawyer of the Year Award" was for the firm's work in the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Litigation.

Portfolio Media Names Berger & Montague as a Top Plaintiffs' Employment Practice in the United States

In 2010, Portfolio Media, publishers of Law 360, selected Berger & Montague's Employment Law Department, chaired by shareholder Shanon J. Carson, as one of the top plaintiffs' employment practices in the United States. Only eight law firms in the United States received this honor.
