In May 2006, Securities Class Action Services (SCAS), a wholly-owned division of Institutional Shareholder Services, released its “SCAS 50” for 2005. The SCAS 50 is a list of the top 50 plaintiffs’ law firms, ranked by the total dollar amount of final securities class action settlements approved in 2005 in which the law firm was lead or co-lead counsel. Berger & Montague was ranked seventh for its recovery of over $229 million on behalf of its institutional and individual clients and class members. Berger & Montague’s successes in 2005 included the $93.95 million recovery in In re Fleming Companies, Inc. Securities Litigation and the $80 million recovery in In re Xcel Energy Securities Litigation, two of the 60 largest securities class action settlements of all time.
